Dr Kaestner is a specialist urological surgeon trained in minimally invasive (robotic and laparoscopic) urological surgery,
endoscopic surgery (renal stone disease and benign prostate enlargement), reconstructive urology and urogynaecological procedures.
After completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Stellenbosch, she completed her postgraduate training at the University of Cape Town. She completed her PhD Thesis examining renal stone disease in the Western Cape in 2022.
She led the reconstructive urology and renal stone firm at Groote Schuur Hospital from 2010-2024. She was the academic program director in the Division of Urology at the University of Cape Town from 2020 to 2024.
She was promoted to Associate Professor in 2022, thereby becoming the first female professor of Urology in South Africa.
She is a regular College of Urology examiner and the current secretary of the College of Urology of South Africa.

Dr Kaestner is a sub-specialist urogynaecologist and offers treatment for incontinence, prolapse and recurrent urinary tract infections. She is a referral centre for complex urogenital fistulae, urethral diverticulae, and urethral reconstruction following anti-incontinence tape/mesh erosion. She is a DaVinci accredited robotic prolapse (sacrocolpopexy) and vesicovaginal fistula repair surgeon.
Dr Kaestner has vast experience in the management of complex renal stones and has a special interest in the minimally invasive management of large kidney stones and stones on retained DJ stents. She offers metabolic investigation and recurrence prevention in recurrent renal stone formers.
Besides her experience in female urethral reconstruction and fistula repair, she is also experienced in urethral stricture repair (men and women), ureteral stricture repair, and bladder augmentation. She has extensive experience in the management of post-tuberculosis ureteric strictures and contracted bladder.
Dr Kaestner is a DaVinci accredited kidney surgeon and experienced laparoscopic surgeon. She offers robotic partial nephrectomy, laparoscopic pyeloplasty, laparoscopic nephrectomy, laparoscopic buccal mucosal graft ureteroplasty for ureteric strictures and laparoscopic removal of large ureteric and kidney stones.
Dr Kaestner attends to general urological ailments such as incontinence, voiding problems, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), erectile problems, blood in the urine, and urinary tract infections. The practice also offers Rezum water vapour therapy for benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH).
